Ice Camp

Russian Ice Camp is a gate to the high-latitude Arctic

Ice Camp is a one-of-a-kind project where we bring together technical, logistical and professional expertise. A professional team is involved in constructing the Ice Camp on drifting ice. This includes searching for an ice field, locating, preparing an ice runway as well as building and maintaining Arctic modules.
This process requires highly qualified specialists with a deep understanding of the northern latitudes. Russia is the only country in the world with the exceptional experience and expertise required to create such a unique site at the North Pole. Here, at this awe-inspiring, far-reaching Edge of the World, where frost and wind are lifelong companions, we are seeing new ideas and discoveries being born that can change our outlook on the world. The Ice Camp is not just a point on the map, but a symbol of human aspiration to knowledge and exploration of uncharted horizons.

Identity

Every year in April, the North Pole becomes an international point of attraction for explorers, scientists, athletes, tourists and other interested parties from all over the world.
The Russian Ice Сamp named after A.N. Chilingarov is the only reference point in the geographic North Pole area, able to implement any initiatives in the fields of scientific and innovative research, sports, tourism and other expedition programmes.
It is a one-of-a-kind site right over the ocean where it is as deep as 4,200 metres and the drifting ice is between 1,5 to 3 metres thick.

Utility

The Ice Camp is made up of multifunctional modules that can be adapted to suit the needs of any expedition. They include accommodation units, kitchen, technical areas, scientific unit, saloon, souvenir shop, sauna, medical centre and more.
There is an ice runway, two helicopter pads, satellite communications and access to the Internet, so you will always be able to get in touch with the mainland.
Our staff have lots of experience and can speak different languages.
The modules are designed to withstand the harsh conditions of the Arctic, and the modern life support systems make staying at the camp more comfortable.

Autonomy

The Ice Camp is entirely autonomous, with no reliance on external resources, which is crucial for operations in the harsh environment of high-latitude Arctic conditions.
The fuel and food supplies are enough to keep it running for a month.
The Camp is powered by special generators, and the modules maintain a comfortable temperature using thermal units.
All life support systems have been adapted to the harsh climate of the North Pole, including polar day, abrupt change of weather conditions, drifting ice and magnetic anomalies.
Insulation
The modules have high-performance thermal insulation materials that stop heat loss and keep the temperature stable inside, even during heavy frosts.
Mobility
The module is easy to transport and install, making it perfect for expeditions and scientific research in the Arctic.
Durability
The materials used to build the module are strong and do not rust, which means it will last for a long time in the Arctic.
Design
The internal space of the module is designed to be practical and easy to use. It can be set up for different purposes, such as sleeping quarters, scientific laboratories, medical centres, technical rooms, etc.
Arctic modules
Arctic Modules are specially designed for Arctic conditions and are used for short-term accommodation in extreme climates. They are designed for use in remote and inaccessible areas where traditional buildings cannot be constructed.

Heating

Arctic modules are equipped with thermal units with a temperature regulation system, ensuring comfortable living and working conditions in the high-latitude Arctic.

Electricity

The Camp uses modern generator sets with a steady power supply that can handle extreme weather.

Meals

Our meals are prepared by professional chefs. A special menu has been created to provide you with enough calories and vitamins to stay strong and healthy in the Arctic.
